We Have Launched a New Animal Welfare Plan

We Have Launched a New Animal Welfare Plan

We have launched a new
Animal Welfare Plan. And we want to hear what you think. Our ideas include banning the live export
of animals for slaughter, ending the badger cull, giving tenants the right to keep a pet, and
strengthening the Hunting Act, closing the loopholes that allow the legal hunting of
foxes and hares. We also want to enshrine
in law the principle of animal sentience, expand affordable vet
care for people on low incomes, and introduce an
animal welfare commissioner to ensure it’s taken seriously
across government. Our ideas have already received backing
from the World Wildlife Fund, Compassion in World Farming, the League Against Cruel Sports,
and Cruelty Free International. You can find out more about
our proposals and comment online
at labour.org.uk/animalwelfare. Labour believes that no animal
should be made to suffer unnecessarily. We want you to help us build
a plan for animal welfare that the next Labour government
will deliver.
